Now Available in 2021: The U.S. Federal Energy Tax Credit

In January, the U.S. Federal Government reinstated the Federal 25C Tax Credit Program. It is retroactively effective from January 1, 2018 and will be in effect until December 31, 2021.

The Section 25C Tax Credit for Qualified Energy Efficiency Improvements offers a 10% tax credit worth up to $500 for homeowners for qualified energy-efficiency upgrades such as adding insulation. This tax credit only applies to the material cost, and the insulation must be installed in the individual’s principal residence.

If you’ve been thinking about reinsulating your home, then now is certainly the time. Upgrading your home’s insulation has been found to be one of the most cost-effective home improvements you can make. In fact, Remodeling Magazine found that the average attic air seal and insulation project added value to the home at resale within a year of completion, averaging 116% return on investment (ROI)!
